Abridged Operation Manual

1. Outline

This manual describes the basic operations for using the personal computer control software for the NRD-545 DSP Receiver. When you actually use the receiver, follow the on-screen instructions in the Help menu.
This control software can be installed for use on a personal computer on which Windows95 is running. We cannot, however, accept any liability for any nonconformities that may occur on the user's personal computer as a result of installing this software. This software has been made for reference use only. Consequently, we cannot accept any inquiries relating to any nonconformities that may occur as a result of its use.

2. Installing the Software

Follow the procedure below to install the software:

2.1 Click "Get !" to download this software.

2.2 Double-click "NRDWINen" to extract.

2.3 Click "Start" at the bottom left of the screen, and select "Control Panel" in the "Settings" group. Select "Add / Remove Programs" to start the installation.

2.4 Select "Setup" in the "Disk 1" which is extracted at Procedure 2.2 and click "Open" to install.

Uninstalling the Software

Follow the procedure below to delete (uninstall) the software from the personal computer:

Click "Start" at the bottom left of the screen, and select "Control Panel" in the "Settings" group.

Select "Add / Remove Programs" to start the uninstallation.

3. Starting Up and Quitting the Software

Click "Start" and select "Nrdwin" in the "Programs" group.

Before you start up the control software, be sure to connect the NRD-545 to the personal computer. For details on how to connect, refer to the NRD-545 instruction manual.

After the software is started up and turn on the power, make sure that "REMOTE" is displayed on the receiver's LCD. If it is not displayed, check the connection between the NRD-545 and the personal computer.

Quitting the Software

Close the Control Display to quit the software. To do this, click the ( X ) mark at the top right of the window.

4. Control display

This display allows you perform operations that are almost the same as those on the NRD-545 control panel. This display has an additional four menus. The functions of each of these menus are activated by selecting the required menu.

NOTE

When POWER is turned OFF on the Control display, the LCD on the receiver goes out but the LDE stays lit.

5. Description of Menus

5.1 ChData

This menu is for saving CH data to the database, and for setting CH data to memory channel of the receiver by operating the buttons.

5.2 UserFunction

This menu is for saving user definition data to the database, and for setting user definition data to the receiver by operating the buttons.

5.3 PanoramaRecv

This menu is for executing panorama reception. It allows you to execute the various panorama reception settings by operating menus, and to select the graphic display mode.

NOTE

The Control display cannot be operated during sweeping. If you click inside the panorama display, a red triangle mark will appear at the part of the frequency display that you clicked.

If you double-click this mark, the selected frequency will be set to the Control display.

5.4 RttyRecv

This menu is for executing RTTY reception. It allows you to execute the RTTY reception by operating menus, and to save RTTY reception data.

NOTE

Remote control operations are not possible in the RTTY reception. Set operation on the receiver's control panel.
